Edit 2018: So besides this being a revision over the dogsh*t that was here originally, the above is an unused (and unfinished) color scheme that was trying to follow the original palette and shading treatment. Decided to start fresh and do a simpler, cleaner version, which I'll update as a new post soon after this one.
